Top Tips to peace of mind

Simple planning can make your holiday that much better. Some of the tips below will help you to a stress free holiday.

. Make sure you have sufficient travel insurance - read your policy thoroughly before you leave home.

. Take out a Form E111, it is free of charge and lasts for life - Form E111 entitles the holder to free or reduced cost emergency medical treatment anywhere in the EEA (European Economic Area). You will receive treatment on the same terms as residents of the country you are visiting. Please note that Form E111 is not a substitute for travel insurance.

. Check your home insurance policy to ensure that should you lose or damage any of your belongings while on holiday you are covered for the replacement cost.

. Take the usual precautions to avoid making it obvious to burglars that the house is unoccupied - remember to cancel newspapers and milk and let a trusted neighbour know that the house will be empty for a time and ask if they could keep an eye on it.

. Make sure that your car is in good working order before embarking on a long journey

. If you are driving to Europe in your own car, make sure your insurance meets the requirements of the E.U. and get a Green Card which certifies that your insurance meets local law.
